劉更生：以心琢物以技傳世 擇一事而終一生

工匠簡介：劉更生是中國非物質(zhì)文化遺產(chǎn)京作硬木家具制作技藝第五代代表性傳承人。他從事京作硬木家具制作與古舊家具修復(fù)39年，從一名木工成長為北京一級工藝大師。劉更生獲得過全國五一勞動獎?wù)隆⒈本┦袆趧幽７丁⒈本┐蠊そ场?021年“大國工匠年度人物”等榮譽稱號。

Craftsman profile: Gengsheng Liu is the fifth generation of representative inheritor of Beijing-styled hardwood furniture making, China's intangible cultural heritage. He has been engaged in making hardwood furniture and repairing ancient furniture for 39 years, and has grown from a carpenter to a first-class craftsman of Beijing. Gengsheng Liu is the winner of many prizes and honors; including National May Day Labor Medal, Beijing Model Worker, Master Craftsman of Beijing, Craftsman of the Nation of 2021.

京作硬木家具起源于明清時期，制作技藝復(fù)雜，集實用性和藝術(shù)性于一身。近日，來自馬里的留學(xué)生張依笙和來自津巴布韋的留學(xué)生路修遠(yuǎn)來到北京龍順成京作非遺博物館，與京作硬木家具制作技藝傳承人劉更生進(jìn)行深入交流。

Beijing-styled hardwood furniture was originated in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The process and technique in furniture making are very complex, integrating both practicality and artistry. Recently, Yisheng Zhang, an international student from Mali, and Xiuyuan Lu, an international student from Zimbabwe, walked into Beijing Longshuncheng Beijing-styled Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, and learned more from Gengsheng Liu, the inheritor of Beijing-styled hardwood furniture making.

推開博物館的大門，迎面而來的是古樸濃重的歷史氣息。一件件精美的文物家具仿佛在訴說著數(shù)百年來的故事。這些京作家具年代各異，雕刻著獨特而精美的紋路樣式，每一個花紋上，都凝聚著匠心獨運；每一個凹凸間，都蘊含著工匠的智慧。留學(xué)生們被這些精美的展品所吸引，在寶藏前駐足欣賞。

Once you push open the museum door, you will immediately feel the ancient and profound historical atmosphere. Pieces of exquisite cultural relics and furniture are there to tell the stories of the past centuries. The Beijing-styled furniture exhibited is from different ages, carved with unique and exquisite patterns. Each pattern embodies the maker’s unique ingenuity; Each curve reflects the maker’s strong passions. Foreign students were attracted by the exquisite exhibits and stopped by each and every work to appreciate the beauty of it.

劉更生向他們介紹了一把精致的椅子。這是亞洲太平洋經(jīng)濟合作組織（APEC）會議上的專用椅，采用了傳統(tǒng)工藝與現(xiàn)代技術(shù)相結(jié)合，運用傳統(tǒng)精美的榫卯工藝結(jié)合精雕細(xì)琢，融合現(xiàn)代的滑輪，完美地彌補了傳統(tǒng)木椅外觀精美但厚重移動能力差的缺陷。張衣笙和路修遠(yuǎn)對榫卯結(jié)構(gòu)產(chǎn)生了興趣，劉更生便帶著留學(xué)生們通過模型的拆分，為留學(xué)生們講解，讓他們親手體驗魯班鎖來感受榫卯結(jié)構(gòu)的奧秘，留學(xué)生們不禁感嘆京作家具的精巧神奇。

Gengsheng Liu introduced a delicate chair to them. This is the type of chair made for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Meeting (APEC). The making technique combines both traditional and modern designs, integrating Chinese traditional mortise and tenon with modern pulley, which perfectly solves the shortcoming of traditional hardwood chairs with their immobility. Yisheng Zhang and Xiuyuan Lu developed great interests in mortise and tenon joints, and Gengsheng Liu explained the mystery of it by splitting a mortise and tenon model. The foreign students then experienced what they’ve learned on Luban locks and were amazed at the delicacy and magic of Beijing-styled furniture.

通過與劉更生的交談，留學(xué)生們了解到每一步工序都有著極高的精密度和復(fù)雜的工藝處理，這都需要制作者有極強的耐心和長期的經(jīng)驗積累，非一朝一夕能完成的。劉更生用39年的時間精心打磨每一件作品，勤學(xué)苦練，也用時光打磨出了愈發(fā)精湛的手藝。

Through the conversation with Gengsheng Liu, the foreign students learned that each step of the making process requires high precision and complex procedures, which requires the absolute patience and long-term experience from the makers, and can't be achieved within a short time. Gengsheng Liu has spent 39 years polishing every work carefully, developing and strengthening his skills. The persistence and devotion he put into furniture has polished his craftsmanship in return.

以心琢物，以技傳世，一代京作大師由此誕生。劉更生“擇一事，終一生”的態(tài)度讓留學(xué)生們敬佩，他們不僅了解了京作硬木家具的復(fù)雜做工，更被工匠們的處世態(tài)度和一絲不茍的工作態(tài)度所感動。

To carve with heart and to pass down with technique, a generation of master craftsmen thus came into being. Gengsheng Liu's attitude of "choosing one profession and devoting his lifetime" deeply impressed the foreign students. Through this visit, they learned about the profound making process of Beijing-styled hardwood furniture, and were deeply touched by the craftsmanship spirit and their meticulous working attitude.
